Chikatilo. Beast in the Cage

During operation "Lesopolosa," aimed at capturing Chikatilo, more than 200,000 people were checked for involvement in a series of murders. 1062 crimes were solved, including 95 murders, 245 rapes, 140 cases of severe bodily harm, and 600 other crimes. Information was collected on 48,000 people with sexual deviations. 5845 people were placed on a special register. However, Chikatilo himself could not be caught for twelve years after the first murder was committed.
