Nothing Like It

Anna Narinskaya: «This book is almost entirely composed of articles written during the time that has passed since my emigration from Russia. The exception includes tests dedicated to my friend, poet Grigory Dashevsky — a man who knew how to... distinguish good from evil. During the time since his death in 2013, this rare quality has become even more important, and the absence of Grisha has become even more gaping.
For the most part, these are journalistic texts attempting to somehow piece together the shards into which my life and that of many of my friends (sometimes I dare to speak not only for myself) has turned after February 2022. They were written on various occasions and for different publications, but some themes and even some illustrative examples and quotes are repeated from text to text.
In compiling these texts, I almost always preserved these repetitions.
I think this obsession in itself is a symptom of post-catastrophic existence and contemplation and, perhaps, it itself represents a report on what is happening».
