Alfred Crofts, Ph.D. from the University of Denver, specializing in the history of Far Eastern countries, and Percy Buchanan, director of the Institute for Asian Studies at the University of Oklahoma, both of whom have lived many years in China and Japan, investigate in their work the development of the peoples of Eastern and Southeast Asia, their social and cultural ties, economic and political forces that shaped the history of states in this region from its origins to the mid-century.
