The life of Igor Vsevolodovich Mozheiko (1934-2003) unfolded in two different planes. Some knew him as an Orientalist, a doctor of sciences, a researcher at the Institute of Oriental Studies, and the author of works on the history of Southeast...
Asia. Others were engrossed in the fantastic stories that Mozheiko published under the pseudonym Kir Bulychev. By the end of the 20th century, Mozheiko had become one of the most popular science fiction writers in our country. Who hasn't seen the animated film "The Mystery of the Third Planet"? Its main character — Alice Selezneva — was invented by Bulychev. At the beginning of the 21st century, a collection of his works was published — 18 volumes! An important place in them is occupied by the cycle dedicated to Alice's adventures; the stories about her are considered the most famous works of Bulychev. In the mid-20th century, Stanislaw Lem sent his hero Ijon Tichy into space, where this newly minted Münchhausen had many amusing adventures. The heroine invented by Mozheiko — a girl from the future, Alice Selezneva — also began to travel through the cosmic spaces. This approach turned out to be successful and fruitful. This is the secret of the success of "Aliciana." However, many stories and tales with different characters also came from Mozheiko's pen. With such works, Mozheiko introduces readers to this book. It includes nine stories and fairy tales: "Kids in a Cage," "Bloody Red Riding Hood, or A Tale After the Tale," "River Doctor," "Starship in the Forest," "Two Tickets to India," "Photograph of an Alien," "Black Briefcase," "Hercules and the Hydra," "Aliens," as well as ten poems.
Like Bulychev's previous books in the series "Library of World Literature," this edition is adorned with illustrations by Yevgeny Tikhonovich Migunov (1921-2004). His style is easily recognizable by the confident stroke and incredible dynamism. Yevgeny Tikhonovich almost always depicts heroes in motion, and this is not by chance, as he worked a lot and fruitfully in animated cinema. In 1939, Migunov entered the art faculty of the All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography, where one of his mentors was the famous director, artist, and screenwriter Ivan Petrovich Ivanov-Vano. Migunov became not just an ordinary animator but a true innovator of animated and puppet cinema. His discoveries and techniques played an important role in the formation of the modern school of domestic animation. At the same time, Yevgeny Tikhonovich was a wonderful graphic artist. Since 1961, he began to create illustrations for magazines "Murzilka," "Funny Pictures," "Pioneer," and "Crocodile." In 1965, with his drawings, the famous story by the Strugatsky brothers "Monday Begins on Saturday" was published. In style and technique, these drawings were very similar to his illustrations that adorn this book.
