The World of Forgotten Things

This book is about the everyday things of the past that are not understood by us today, an attempt to systematize information about how people lived in the past, what they ate, how they dressed, what they used in daily... life, about items invented by humanity over many centuries, but "forgotten" as they were replaced by more advanced ones or put away in chests for lack of use. Today, few know about such items as the kopooshka, kosnik, carne-de-balle, tremblez, pandora, bratina, whereas once they were an integral part of people's everyday lives. Many of these items are preserved in the canvases of old masters, in antique shops and markets, in the collections of museums and collectors.
The book includes images of exhibits from the collection of fashion historian Alexander Vasiliev.
