Jet aircraft are the most powerful and modern flying vehicles of the 20th century. Their fundamental distinction from others is that they are powered by air-jet or turbojet engines. Nowadays, they form the basis of modern aviation, both civil and military.
The first jet aircraft was attempted to be created by the Romanian designer Henri Coandă. This was at the very beginning of the 20th century, in 1910. Germany made a significant contribution to the development of jet aviation. The childhood of turbojet aviation only ended in 1949 with the appearance of the MiG-15 fighter.
