Bonsai – is the art of growing miniature trees. It originated in China during the Tang dynasty, later migrating and firmly settling in Japanese culture. Now you have the opportunity to touch this harmonious art and create your own miniature tree. Show your talent and use your own vision to create a truly unique bonsai that will be appreciated by the emperor himself!
About the Game
"Bonsai" – is a game in which you will grow a miniature tree using hexagonal tokens. You will give your bonsai a unique trunk shape, positioning the tokens of leaves, flowers, and fruits just as you envision! From the very first minutes, the game will captivate you with its meditative process and immerse you in a world of harmony. And the unique miniature trees created by you will be the perfect decoration for your evening!
How to Play?
At the center of the table, a game board with tokens is placed. Players lay out cards, prepare the zen deck, and then each places a pot token of their chosen color, the starting seishi token, and a reminder of the same color in front of themselves.
On each turn, the player faces a choice: to meditate or take care of their bonsai. It is important not to miss the moment to check if you are receiving the goal token! If a player chooses meditation, they draw 1 card and no more than 2 tokens. If they choose care, they can add tokens to their tree.
To grow bonsai, tools and growth cards are needed. Real bonsai specialists strive to give the tree a natural look, paying attention to the tilt of the trunk and the direction of branching. Master, assistant, and scroll cards add unique effects to the game. The game can be enjoyed solo, with scenarios of varying difficulty offered in the rules.
Remarkably, with careful care, this amazing plant can live for hundreds of years, filling the surrounding world with its beauty and energy.
Who Won?
When the last card from the deck is revealed, the game comes to an end. Each player takes one more turn and moves on to the most interesting part – tallying the points. The player with the most points becomes the winner!
