Dispelled Charms

The classic Chinese novel "Dispelled Charms" enjoys great popularity among readers in its homeland and is officially classified as a "popular book for pleasurable reading." Its authorship is traditionally attributed to the great Chinese writer of the 14th century, Luo Guanzhong — the creator of the epic "Romance of the Three Kingdoms," while the final editing of the text is credited to Feng Menglong (1574–1646), one of the most celebrated literati of his time. Numerous characters in "Dispelled Charms," such as the sorceress White Fox, the lame demon Zuo, the graceful fox Hu Meier, and many others, commit various misdeeds and actively interfere in the lives of ordinary people and courtiers, for which they face inevitable retribution. The text is accompanied by illustrations and drawings by Chinese and Japanese artists.
