Yuri Vadimovich Tavrovskiy is a sinologist, publicist, and professor at the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia. He has been studying China for nearly half a century. He worked in the Chinese editorial office of the State Television and Radio of the USSR, as a correspondent for the magazine "Novoe Vremya" in Japan. He was an employee of the Ideological Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, a reviewer for the newspaper "Izvestia," and a host of an international program on Russian television, and published the magazine "Diplomat."
