illustrated edition of volumes I–VI of "The History of the Russian State" by Nikolai Mikhailovich Karamzin, covering the period from ancient times to the beginning of the 16th century: from the narrative of the earliest peoples inhabiting the territory of Eastern Europe, Slavic tribes, and the formation of the ancient Russian state in the 9th–11th centuries to the period of the creation of the Russian unified state and the reign of Tsar Ivan III Vasilievich. Nikolai Mikhailovich worked on creating the historical bestseller of his time for more than 20 years but did not manage to finish it. The text of the manuscript of volume XII ends in the chapter "Interregnum (1611–1612)", although the author intended to bring the narrative to the beginning of the reign of the Romanov dynasty. Karamzin managed to create a highly artistic historical book intended for a wide readership. The edition is published with reductions.
