Board Game - Cosmic Cities

The fact that humans will have to leave Earth was just a matter of time. Humanity has long dreamed of conquering space, and when the urgent need to find a new shelter arose, people were fully prepared to fulfill their long-held dream.

Mastering an entire planet at once is a very hard task, requiring a lot of resources and is not always doomed to success. Therefore, it is worth starting with small cities on smaller celestial bodies. The vast and cold expanses of the universe are filled with numerous asteroids, each of which harbors new, interesting opportunities. And perhaps one of them will become your new home.

About the game:
In the board game "Cosmic Cities," you will develop your cities on lifeless asteroids. You will be assisted by workers, how can you do without them? Each worker has unique abilities that will help you gather the necessary resources and construct buildings. As you build cities on asteroids, workers will fly from one city to another each round: thus, specialists who helped your opponents will join your team. Plan your moves wisely so that your city shines brighter than the stars!

How to play?
It all starts with preparation: choose the side of the game board depending on the number of players, fill the resource areas with corresponding tokens according to the number of players, and place building tokens in all building cells in the corresponding shape. Place the remaining resources and buildings in a common supply. Each player receives an asteroid board and one token of each resource - this is your starting supply. Choose the worker cards that will participate in the game: this can be done randomly or chosen independently. Shuffle them and deal 4 hidden cards to each player. Also, shuffle the personal goal cards and give each player one such card.

The game lasts 8 rounds, each of which consists of 2 phases: action phase and refresh phase.

Action phase: all players simultaneously choose one worker card from their hand, reveal them at the same time, and play them in ascending order of the priority value indicated on the card. A worker can either bring resources to your warehouse or build one of the available buildings. The amount of resources received depends on the load capacity of your worker. If you decide to build a building, pay its cost in resources (if you have enough) and place the building token on your board. Workers can enhance a particular action if the card has a "Gathering" or "Building" designation. The phase ends when each player has played 2 worker cards.

Refresh phase: add resource tokens to each resource area according to the number of players. The limit of areas is 5 (7 when playing with two), if after adding resources the value is exceeded, discard the excess into the supply. Then fill empty building cells with tokens from the supply: there should be only 1 building token in each cell. Next, move the round token to the next division of the track and pass your 2 played worker cards to the player on your left, in exchange for receiving 2 cards played by the player on your right. In a two-player game, this rule changes: players take 2 cards lying face down on the right side of the board for a two-player game, and place the 2 played cards on the left side of the board. At the beginning of the game, there are already 2 cards lying on both sides that no one has used - this creates a delay of one round before the player receives the cards played by their opponent.

Who won?
If you completed the action phase in the eighth round, skip the refresh phase and move to scoring. You earn victory points for built buildings, for completing a personal goal, and for uncovered cells of each type of terrain on your asteroid board (the fewer, the better). You get 15 points for each complete set of 5 different basic building tokens, 2 points for each building token on your board that matches the token indicated on the top of the goal card, and 1 point for each building token on your board that matches the token indicated on the bottom of the goal card. The player with the highest number of points is declared the winner! If there's a tie, the player who built more buildings wins. If there's still a tie, the player with the most resources wins. A tie again? Then the player who played their worker card with the highest priority value in the last round wins.
