An-ski, the creator of the immortal play "The Dybbuk", used many pseudonyms - and this was not a pose, but a necessity: populist, revolutionary, publicist, writer in Russian and Yiddish, ethnographer, frontline correspondent, popularizer of Jewish folklore - paraphrasing the subtitle of his famous play, it can be said that he wandered throughout his life between many worlds, leaving an indelible mark in each. His complete biography is being released in Russian for the first time, filling a number of significant white spots in both Russian and Jewish history at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
