"Ada" Nabokov: The Place of Consciousness

Lime tree, St. John's wort, lemon balm, calendula… Anna's entire life is devoted to the cycle of flowering and gathering medicinal herbs. For their sake, she severs all ties with the outside world; only among the herbs does she feel... alive, oblivious to pain and blood - neither her own nor others'.
The novel "Into the Darkness" (2015) is a chronicle of solitude against the backdrop of the peaceful prosperity of a modern Czech town, a deeply personal narrative of a "failed member of society," a quiet song of an inconspicuous forest nymph.
For this book, Anna Bolava was awarded the prestigious Czech literary prize "Magnesia Litera" in 2016.
