About the translator:
Lionel Giles (1875-1958) - British sinologist, writer and philosopher. He held the position of head of the department of oriental manuscripts and books of the British Museum. He became famous for his translation of Sun Tzu's The Art of War, Confucius' Analects (1910) and Lao Tzu's Tao Te Ching (1912).
