Sondju

1946. Only just freed from Japanese occupation, Korea is experiencing American influence. Against the backdrop of the changes taking place in the country, nineteen-year-old Sondju cherishes the hope of living modernly, continuing her education, and marrying her childhood friend Kung, whom she loves. But her dreams, inspired by Western trends, are shattered by the traditions and orders of her family. Her parents arrange a marriage with a more suitable suitor, in their opinion, who does not share Sondju's views and sees the essence of marriage in a completely different light. Will the girl's personal struggle for freedom and the right to choose culminate in victory in a society dominated by men, in a war-torn country?
