The Fox Girl

A familiar yet foreign island off the eastern coast of Sweden. In a limestone quarry filled with water, the dead body of a fourteen-year-old girl is found. Her wrists are slashed, and a coarse rope is tangled in her hair.... The number "26" is written in blue marker on her thigh. There are no traces around the quarry. The next day, at the other end of the island, a brutally murdered woman, the owner of a bookstore, is found. The girl is ruled a suicide, and Chief Commissioner of the Criminal Police Sanna Berling, along with her new colleague Eir Pedersen, begins an investigation. She uncovers a troubling link between these cases. Soon it becomes clear that what has happened is only the beginning of a whole series of brutal murders. And then they enter a race against time. A race in which seven children hold the key to a terrible revelation. A race that becomes much more personal for Sanna than she could have imagined.
