Suprematist Mirror: Collection

In the figure of Kazimir Malevich, the revolutionary spirit that permeated European art at the beginning of the 20th century is vividly expressed. Taking into account the experience of cubism and futurism, the artist took the next step, freeing form from its external content and proclaiming the primacy of the energy of color. Thus, a new radical direction of the avant-garde emerged - suprematism. Its pictorial manifesto became the world-famous "Black Square"; however, for Malevich, establishing new aesthetic principles was not only a matter of artistic practice but also a deep philosophical reflection, embodied in many articles, declarations, and treatises.
This publication is intended to introduce the reader to Malevich's legacy - as a theorist and thinker. The collection includes selected works, many of which were published during the artist's lifetime in 1916–1928, while others were found in archives and were only published in the 1990s. Most of the works are printed while preserving the author's style, word usage, and writing, allowing one to see the originality of Malevich's language.
Over the past decades, the writings of the genius inventor of suprematism have proven their undeniable value for the history and philosophy of art, and the illuminating fiery energy of thought still conveys to us the resonance of the ideological struggle that unfolded on the artistic stage of the avant-garde.
