Chinese special services in the mid-50s encounter an extremely difficult enemy cipher. So difficult that none of their cryptographers can decipher it. Mission after... mission fails. People are dying. All because the intercepted telegrams cannot be decoded. Then agents are sent to all corners of the country in search of young people who are exceptionally gifted in mathematics. At Ninjou University, they finally find someone who can crack the code. This young man is Rong Jincheng, who has only three favorite activities in life: counting ants, eating dumplings, and solving mathematical problems. Now he is recruited into the cryptography department of the Chinese secret services, division 701, where he is tasked with breaking the elusive «Purple Cipher». What will come of all this? And who is really the mysterious puppeteer - the creator of the code?
