The sacred duty of every bone sorceress is to ferry the souls of the deceased to the other world. Thus, they maintain balance among the living. Wanting to help, Sabina performed a ritual to summon and kill her sister's beloved. But on the night of the ritual, the one she expected did not appear, and now Prince Kazimir holds Ailessa captive.
