George Orwell is one of the most read authors in the world and a very controversial figure of his time. He was born in Bengal, educated at Eton, worked in the police, on the radio, and in a second-hand bookstore,... fought in Spain, and wrote books. A staunch opponent of communism and a defender of democratic socialism, Orwell staged a rebellion against the society he aspired to but felt absolutely foreign to.
The collection includes six different works by Orwell: the early novels "Days in Burma" and "The Priest's Daughter," "Long Live the Ficus!" and "A Breath of Air," as well as the satirical fable "Animal Farm," which brought him worldwide fame, and the dystopia "1984."
