"Between" is a novel on the border of history and myth. The plot unfolds against the epic backdrop of Celtic Britain, spanning over two millennia - from the construction of Stonehenge to the reign of King Arthur and the appearance...
of the Grail.
This novel was written thanks to many years of studying Celtic culture, but it is connected not so much with "Tristan and Isolde" as with "Eugene Onegin," "The Demon" (with an unexpectedly happy ending) and, most importantly, "Anna Karenina," with which there is a debate not for life, but for death. A debate, carefully concealed under the intricate weave of British myths.
Alvdis N. Rutiën was well-known in the nineties as one of the leaders of Tolkienists in Moscow. She is now better known as Professor Alexandra Barkova, head of the Department of Cultural Studies at the UNIK Institute (Moscow), creator of the site "Myth.Ru." The main part of her scholarly work consists of lecture cycles on world mythology and epic (ancient, Slavic, Scandinavian, Celtic, Indian, North Caucasian, etc.), and Tibetan Buddhism.
