Once these lands belonged to an ancient race of Lurs; skilled builders and inventors, they lost their power under the onslaught of warlike tribes and retreated into the wild lands beyond the walls of King Bruno. In their place rose the mighty Empire of Domirya, but it too fell apart, giving way to trading city-states and new kingdoms, leaving as a legacy to the new peoples impeccable creations of art and legends about the omnipotent Fate, whose wheel spins relentlessly, granting fortunes and defeats. Now, in a new harsh and indifferent world, magicians rule, capable of subjugating mere mortals and creating phantom squadrons of warriors. There is no longer any need to maintain huge armies; it is enough to acquire a couple of all-powerful wizards — and your kingdom becomes invincible. But remember, without the help of omnipotent mages, you will become easy prey for greedy neighbors. Magic doesn't even need to kill — there is a way to strip them of their Gift and turn them into a helpless and miserable being.
