Ghost Stories

"Ghost Stories" ("ghost stories") is a literary genre known since ancient times. Stories about ghosts can be found in the works of ancient writers, in oral folk tales, and even in scrolls from Ancient Egypt. It is quite likely that... the existence of ghosts puzzled and fascinated humanity at a time when writing had not yet been invented. The English writer and historian Montague Rhodes James dedicated all of his artistic works to this genre, becoming the greatest master of "ghost stories." His work was admired by H. P. Lovecraft, Clark Ashton Smith, Jorge Luis Borges, and Stephen King. Many of his stories have been adapted for film, and the author's name consistently appears in all lists of the most significant writers in the genre of mysticism.
