The main theme of the comedy «The Profitable Place» is bribery. In this work, Ostrovsky explored the nature of corruption and attempted to understand the thoughts of bribers and their justifications. Although the play was written over one and a half centuries ago, it remains relevant to modern audiences.
The English translation with comments was prepared by American scholar, an expert in the field of Russian language and literature, Norman Henley.
