Spring of Nations

The events of 1848-1849 are very poorly reflected in the domestic historical consciousness. Hardly one in a thousand randomly surveyed people on the street knows anything, for example, about how, a few years before the Crimean War, parts of the... Russian army fought in Hungary. Even more so - why they did it.
Meanwhile, for Europeans, the years 1848-1849 are alive and relevant. France, Germany, Italy, Hungary, Croatia, Czech Republic, Austria, Denmark - in all these countries the Spring of Nations left a huge mark, laying the foundation for the ultimately forming national sentiment, closely woven into the state mythology.
Nowhere, except for France, did the forces that were set in motion in 1848-1849 achieve victory. However, after the Spring of Nations, Europe could no longer remain the same. Having lost in direct combat, new ideas, values, and relationships scattered so many seeds that it became clear to everyone - with the next wave of sprouts, no one and nothing could cope. The events of the Spring of Nations had a colossal, and in some ways even defining, influence on the further development of European civilization, completing the transition from the Old Order with its feudal remnants to a new bourgeois-democratic society. And, consequently, on the whole world. Transformations began, thanks to which the types of society and statehood arose that would exist, with known changes, until the very First World War.
