Nikolai Pavlovich Zadornov (1909–1992) – a famous Russian writer, author of several novels about the history of the exploration of Siberia and the Far East by Russian pioneers. The duology "Amur-Father" and its continuation "Gold Rush" have gained particular love... from readers. In the last decades of the 19th century, rich gold deposits were discovered in numerous tributaries of the Amur. Driven by need and deprivation, settlers from Central Russia came in whole villages to this uninhabited harsh land, where there is good soil, a multitude of animals and fish, and the waters of the Amur River carry grains of precious metal. Here and there in the depths of the Amur forests, republics of diggers arise – tiny states within a state, with their own laws and rulers, who are not afraid to engage in open conflict with the tsarist authorities...
