Aristotle — a great ancient Greek thinker who had a tremendous influence on the development of European and world culture, an encyclopedic scientist who was at the origins of modern science. This book includes three of Aristotle's most important works: «Metaphysics» — a foundational work of the philosopher, outlining his doctrine of the four causes, or principles, of all being; «Politics», in which Aristotle examines the main forms of government and the goals of the state, defining the latter as «association organized for the common good»; and «Poetics» — a treatise dedicated to the theory of drama, which defined the development of European literary theory for many centuries to come.
