began. It was a single-seat, single-engine mid-wing aircraft with a fully metal duralumin structure and angular wings. A characteristic feature were the three airflow deflectors located on each wing. In the front part of the aircraft, there was an air intake for the engine, divided by a vertical partition into two channels on the sides. The pilot's cabin was airtight, equipped with an ejection seat. The powerplant was a single turbojet engine located at the rear. The standard armament included two 23-mm NR-23 cannons (80 rounds each) and one 37-mm N-37D (40 rounds). The aircraft could also carry bombs interchangeably with additional fuel tanks. This extremely popular and successful design had many development versions. The MIG-17, known as LIM-5, was also produced in Poland starting in 1956!
