The thing is, the Germans, in their retreat, evacuated all the cadets, but they weren't able to hide the archives and secreted them somewhere nearby. For the first time in the entire war, SMERSH had a chance to obtain the archives of the Abwehr intelligence school! A local abandoned Polish castle was chosen for the operation. A guard was stationed nearby. And then, deep at night, a shot rang out near the castle. The arriving SMERSH officers found the corpse of a completely naked man and a shocked guard. The soldier claimed that a pack of wolves attacked him at night, but when he shot the leader, the predators instantly disappeared, and instead, a bleeding man lay on the ground... The author of the book, when he was still a child, often listened to stories from his father, Alexander Bushkov Sr., a participant in the Great Patriotic War, and his imagination carried the boy into strange, uncharted worlds filled with wonders, wizards, and all sorts of devildry, and much of what he heard, that captivated and astonished him to the utmost, later easily became the basis for his books in the series 'The Unexplained.'
