Once a respectable Austrian family, consisting of a mom, dad, grandfather, two boys, and one girl, discovers a strange creature in their kitchen.
It looks like a pumpkin-cucumber, and it even has a crown on its head. It speaks in broken... human language.
It considers itself the king of the lower basement, who has been banished by its subjects. It commands to love it and show favor, as well as to take care of it in every way and feed it with sprouted potatoes.
How the children and adults reacted in such an absurd, funny, and downright fantastic situation is described with sparkling humor in this book.
Despite the overall entertaining tone, the book is undoubtedly quite instructive.
