"The Odyssey of Captain Blood" undoubtedly ranks among the best adventure novels ever written in the history of world literature. This narrative about a noble daredevil who, by the will of fate, finds himself at the head of a crew of pirates has captivated readers for many years with its captivating plot and impeccable description of historical realities.

The book includes the first twelve chapters of the novel, in which Dr. Peter Blood manages to make a dizzying journey from a cozy room in a mansion in southern England to the captain's bridge on a captured Spanish ship heading "to the realm of freedom" on Tortuga island. 

The work is adapted using Ilya Frank's method: it is provided with a literal translation into Russian and necessary lexical-grammatical commentary (without simplifying the original text). The uniqueness of the method lies in the fact that memorization of words and expressions occurs through their repetition, without cramming and the need to use a dictionary.
