Anichkov Palace is one of the architectural landmarks of Nevsky Prospect, shaped by the most outstanding architects. But the palace is even more significant as the beloved residence of two Russian monarchs — Nicholas I and Alexander III. This house is associated with years of their youth, the beginning of family life, and the birth of children. They lovingly furnished this house and joyfully returned to it. It is also noteworthy that both monarchs lived in Anichkov Palace as tsesarevichs, before the avalanche of monarchical affairs and concerns fell upon them. In this residence, the monarchs were shaped not only as future statesmen but also as individuals, with all their strengths and weaknesses. The traces of their youthful passions have left a significant mark in the history of Russian culture.

Surprisingly, the history of Anichkov Palace has a sparse historiography. Of course, it is mentioned in numerous books, but merely mentioned… This work fills the gaps in the history of this architectural masterpiece, describing various aspects of life at Anichkov Palace.
