"Among modern poets, Sasha Chorny stands completely apart, in proud, indifferent, and slightly contemptuous solitude. Sasha Chorny is alone. And therein lies the charm of his original personality, and for that reason, he still has a few fans and admirers, but for those fans-friends, his free, precise, and beautiful word is truly precious." Alexander Kuprin wrote these lines more than a hundred years ago, which, unfortunately, still partly reflect reality: the poetry of Sasha Chorny is not as well known to readers as the poems of the star poets of the Silver Age. The issue is not only in modest print runs - publishers seemed to fear his words: his bitter Muse is deadly harsh, his voice is sincere, his word is merciless, but his soul is completely open. And this rare combination makes Sasha Chorny's satirical lyricism and lyrical satire a unique phenomenon in Russian poetry of the early 20th century.
