Welcome to Kent County, 1797. After a failed engagement, young Jane Austen arrives at her older brother Neddy's home. His pregnant wife Elizabeth dreams of marrying the girl off, so she is looking for a suitable match at all the balls in Kent. But she is distracted from this idea by a terrible event.
Mrs. Knight, Neddy's adoptive mother, who owns the luxurious Godmersham Park estate and numerous estates, has fallen under the influence of a self-proclaimed princess found on the beach after a shipwreck. Jane fears that because of her, Neddy's inheritance and the Austens' well-being will be at risk.
The young writer is determined to expose the impostor. However, the situation takes a dark turn, and suddenly not only the inheritance is in jeopardy. It turns out that her own brother is keeping a dangerous secret…
