This manual is aimed at the development of recognition and correct reading of homographs. To compile the list of hieroglyphs 多音字, basic educational manuals used for teaching children in elementary and secondary schools in China were analyzed. The manual consists of five parts: an introduction, which presents the theoretical results of the research on 多音字; a general list of homograph hieroglyphs developed based on Chinese educational manuals on recognizing 多音字; an analysis of the hieroglyphs; comprehensive exercises with answers; and variants of test papers.

Homographs are one of the reasons for errors in reading or writing hieroglyphs. The materials of the manual can be used both by Chinese language teachers for finding material on the topic of 多音字 and developing test papers, as well as by learners for analyzing homographs and the mistakes made when reading 多音字.
