Young Englishwoman Esther married an older doctor and moved to Boston with him. Soon her husband went on a journey and did not send news for many years. Left alone, Esther could not resist her feelings for a young minister... and gave birth to his child. For her love, she became an outcast, who would spend the rest of her life forced to wear a scarlet letter «A» — adulteress — on her dress.
