The Theatre of Glass and Shadows

Everyone has a story, but until the age of nineteen, Juliet Grace does not know hers. Her story begins when her father dies.
When before his death he pronounces an unfamiliar female name. When some woman calls and cries into the... receiver, calling his name, which he will never hear again. When police officers show up at the doorstep and inquire about Juliet's past, and she has nothing to answer.
Juliet dreamed of dancing on stage, but at her stepmother's insistence, she languished in secretarial courses. Juliet crafted an amazing biography for herself, but obediently lived under the control of indifferent adults. And now she is free to live as she wishes and, vaguely sensing the beginning of a new plot, sets out on a quest— to find herself, her roots, and the truth about her mother's death. And so she finds herself in London's Theatre District.
In the version of London we know, the Theatre District never existed. The Theatre District is a realm of illusions, an otherworldly world of wonderful stories beyond reality. Here, for centuries, day and night, without pause, the Show goes on, and nothing else in the world matters more. The director and the artists are almost deities: they belong to ancient lineages that have fed high art with their blood, flesh, and thoughts for centuries.
Spellbound audiences flock to the Theatre District and remain, unable to tear their eyes away from the magic.
The magic shines brightly, but on its reverse side, there is darkness. The outside world has no power over the District; even the police cannot enter. Here, only one law prevails: The Show must go on. The Theatre District is smoke and mirrors, and Juliet must learn how far people are willing to go so that certain stories are never told—and who pays with their life for that.
