Since 1932, the writer worked as a special and later military correspondent for various newspapers and magazines. Many of A.P. Gaidar's works became part of the school curriculum and found their readers in different countries around the world.
The story "Timur and His Team" is one of the most famous works of A.P. Gaidar. The work on the book was completed on August 27, 1940, and on September 5 of the same year, the first excerpt from the story was published in the newspaper "Pioneer Truth". Almost immediately, "Timur teams" began to appear in many corners of the Soviet Union.
The story unfolds in a small summer cottage village, where a "secret organization" operates, helping children and the elderly, taking care of the families of soldiers, defenders of the Motherland, fighting against a local gang of hooligans and garden thieves. The boys carry out their good deeds in secret, not expecting gratitude or praise. The squad is led by the "proud and passionate commissioner" Timur Garaev, and the boys obey him unquestioningly. A.P. Gaidar was often asked the question of what the strength of Timur was, why the boys obeyed his orders so well. "When I was 15 years old, I commanded a platoon. In my platoon there were bearded men, there were people of bad behavior, there were people who did not want to listen to you. What could I do to keep them in line? By firmly believing in what needed to be done.
