The Master and Margarita

The book reproduces a photocopy of the edition of M. A. Bulgakov's novel (1891-1940) «The Master and Margarita» (1928-1940), published in 1969 in Frankfurt am Main by the publishing house «Posev». In this edition, for the first time in Russian,... the complete text of the immortal novel was published, free from censorship interference: many cuts made during its publication in the magazine «Moscow» (1966-1967) were restored.
The text of the novel is accompanied by illustrations by the People’s Artist of the Russian Federation S. A. Alimov (1938-2019) and the famous artist Petr Perevezentsev for the Jerusalem chapters of the novel. The edition also includes a postscript by literary scholar I. N. Sukikh, containing one of the latest interpretations of the novel, and an article by art historian D. Y. Severukhin about the artists of this book and their works.
