True meditation cannot arise by itself. It is transmitted from teacher to student, like the vibration between two tuning forks. When the large tuning fork — the teacher — begins to resonate at a certain frequency, its vibration naturally transmits to the small tuning fork — the student. Without this transmission, any attempt to meditate becomes merely amateur activity that will not lead to a true result.
