New authors emerged (Robert Eggers, Jordan Peele, Ari Aster), new subgenres appeared (metahorror, post-horror, folk horror), and many classic films and franchises received remakes and reboots ("Saw," "Scream," the series "The Twilight Zone"). These processes are predominantly explored through American material in the new book by philosopher and film scholar Alexander Pavlov. Special attention is given to the changes in the political character of horror films, which have reflected numerous issues of different societies for the past fifty years. Alexander Pavlov is a Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, and Head of the School of Philosophy and Cultural Studies at the Faculty of Humanities of the National Research University "Higher School of Economics." He is the author of the books "Bad Cinema" (2022), "Post-Postmodernism" (2023), and others.
