Slavic Magic. From Sorcerers and Wizards to Protectors and Werewolves

Slavic magical practices are often regarded as superstitions and grandmother's tales; however, they have been preserved in the memories of hundreds of generations of our ancestors and are still alive today. Even now, children search for beautiful stones with a hole in the middle on the seashore, asking for protection from the “chicken god,” while women let their hair down during childbirth. Love spells are in demand, despite any rational arguments, and family “rituals” exist in almost every home. Slavic magic was not literate but folk, traditional, passed down from generation to generation in the form of rituals, spells, motifs of wooden house decorations, and embroidery. And as history has shown, folk traditions are much more enduring than the secret knowledge recorded by “learned” magicians and alchemists.
