Popular writer Madeline Stone is holding a contest for a new plot. She receives an anonymous letter with a story from a small town, where young men have been disappearing on Halloween for several years. Madeline travels to the specified address to find out more details and write a new novel. The town also has a legend about the ghost of 15-year-old Jinny Hardy, the daughter of a local wealthy man, who took her own life for no apparent reason.
