"Sticks and Carrots" is a deck about upbringing, limitations, punishments, suppression, feelings, resources, and support, about parent-child relationships and relationships with others. The deck was created as a working tool, primarily for children - victims of various forms of abuse...
in the family. It addresses all forms of abuse, including physical, psychological, sexual violence, and neglect of the child's needs. The deck allows the child to react, express complex emotional experiences outward, find support points for further life, and resources for overcoming traumatic events. Child abuse is not only a family matter. Children become victims at school, in the yard, and in other (often completely unpredictable) conditions. With the "Sticks and Carrots" deck, one can work with the emotional instability of the victim, meet their need for support, and create a sense of security. A child's life experience can also make them an initiator of cruelty towards other children, towards society as a whole. In this case, the deck allows exploring with the child the nature of such behavior, emotions, and feelings of the surrounding people. Thus, the card set is focused on the following areas of work with children: - corrective work in cases of family, school, and other types of violence; - corrective work in cases of aggressive relationships in children's collectives (both with victims of violence and with aggressors, initiators of bullying).
Options for the exercise "Two Perspectives on One Story" This exercise is aimed at working with adults and children who have been subjected to various forms of abuse. It focuses on forming a dissociated (detached, outsider) perspective on what happened. It can also be used in working with adults, parents, to become aware of traumatic childhood experiences. - Choose a card that resembles what happened to you. - Choose a card(s) that people who witnessed and participated in the events would have chosen. - Choose a card that resembles the situation that occurred between you and the person who hurt you. - Choose a card that that person would have chosen for this situation. - Choose a card that resembles what you felt then. - What do you think, what card reflecting your feelings would that person have chosen? - Choose a card that helped you cope with this situation. What do you think that person would say about this card? And what card would they choose? "Three for Three" This exercise is suitable for both individual and group work with adults: parents, educators, etc. It focuses on working with value settings in education. Choose three statements that resonate most closely with you that you agree with. Pick cards illustrating these statements. Choose three statements that you disagree with, which provoke protest in you. Pick cards illustrating these statements.
