Inquisitors Jakob Sprenger and Heinrich Kramer, relying on their practice and citing reliable sources such as rumors of witchcraft and accusations of devilish corruption of cow's milk, created a detailed instruction on how to find witches, properly torture them to obtain confessions, and execute sentences. The pedantic analysis of each stage of the witch hunt describes the judicial system of the 15th century and the knowledge of the world held by both ordinary people and members of the clergy. "The Hammer of Witches" is an undeniable monument of its time, immersing readers in the true Middle Ages.  In this edition, the text in Latin is accompanied by a parallel translation by theology candidate N. T. Tsvetkov. For ease of reading, each chapter in Russian is placed opposite the corresponding chapter in Latin. The parallel text allows for easy comparison of the original with the translation, highlighting the difficulties faced by the translator and noting the most accurately translated fragments. The text is accompanied by paintings by Albrecht Dürer, selected etchings from Francisco Goya's "Caprichos", engravings by Louis Breton, as well as works by other artists who addressed the themes of witchcraft or the Middle Ages in general.
