At the Bottom. Old Woman Izergil

Maxim Gorky is one of the key figures of Soviet literature. He traveled from a budding author of romantic works to a writer of world renown. The collection includes Gorky’s most famous early works — the play “At the Bottom,”... which remains a staple on the best theater stages in the world, the prose poem “Song of the Stormy Petrel,” the stories “Chelkash,” “Konovalov,” “Old Woman Izergil,” as well as Gorky’s masterpiece of romantic prose “Makar Chudra.” The works are part of the literature curriculum for middle and high school. The “Children's Library” series features the best works of domestic and world literature for children aged 5 to 16. This includes folklore and literary fairy tales, poems, stories, and novellas by outstanding classic writers. All works are included in educational literature programs and are recommended by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation for study in schools and for independent reading.
