Twelve Heavenly Animals. Whale. Legends and Tales

The book "Chinese Legends and Tales" is a guide to the world of Chinese folklore, worldview, and values of the Chinese people. The short tales, legends, and instructive stories presented here are the most widespread and well-known; these are the... ones that parents tell their children in every Chinese family. From each of these stories, a vivid proverb—chengyu—has remained in Chinese culture. By knowing proverbs, we understand the context and humor, the mindset, and the reasons for the actions of the speakers of the language.
This book is designed for 16 lessons with a teacher and includes 18 stories. Each text includes several words and characters for memorization, which are provided at the end of the texts in the form of a small dictionary. The audio accompaniment in two languages allows listening to the stories both in class, followed by text analysis with the teacher, and in a mode convenient for the student for independent work on the texts. The selected characters and titles of the stories are pronounced sequentially in Russian and Chinese.
The book can be used in the study of the Chinese language and culture, both as part of the course "The Magical World of the Chinese Language" and independently. It will be informative and interesting for students of any age and knowledge level.
