Don't feed the monkey! How to break the cycle of anxiety and worry

I know how to conquer any fear and relieve stress. You might say, that’s a bold statement? I am a therapist specializing in the treatment of anxiety disorders for 20 years now. Moreover, I have never been a happy owner... of a calm nervous system. Chronic nightmares, mysterious stomach pains, and an all-consuming fear—these are my old friends. Panic would overwhelm me for any reason: what if the stocks crash? what if my child gets sick? what if I don’t get enough sleep and can’t work properly?
Soon I realized: it’s not the causes of fears that need changing, but my reactions to them. Moreover: focusing on what nurtures and "feeds" our problems hinders any area of activity. Regardless of whether you want to get rid of a specific problem (like panic attacks) or simply wish to live a happier, more successful, and calmer life—the tools to achieve the goal will be the same.
