Semantic reading is an important component of the educational process and influences the ability to understand what has been read. This skill needs to be developed - this is the aim of the proposed manual.

If a child masters semantic reading,... their oral speech develops and, as a consequence, their written speech does too. The book helps prepare elementary school students to work with educational, popular science, and informational texts. This manual presents texts of varying levels of complexity. The first part includes stories about outstanding personalities. Bright facts from the lives of Peter I, M. V. Lomonosov, A. S. Pushkin, and A. A. Akhmatova, who had the greatest influence on the development of science and culture in Russia, are presented to the students. The second part consists of literary works by classic writers. The third part includes texts of different types of speech.

After each text, assignments are given that help to learn how to understand and analyze what has been read, predict the next events in the plot based on the available information, formulate the theme and idea, answer questions about the content, and form and express one's own opinion about what has been read.

This conveniently sized publication contains bright illustrations intended to develop associations and the imagination of the young reader. The workbook will help develop critical thinking skills, analytical abilities, and imagination in the child.
