Rodion Raskolnikov is a student on the brink of poverty. Want and domestic difficulties drive him to a terrible crime. In pondering the question of whether he is a "trembling creature or has the right", the hero loses true human values and forgets the significance of every life. The author shows that even in such a case there is a path to redemption, but one must always bear responsibility for one's actions.
